This engine treats contributions as annual. If you actually deposit monthly, the true path can differ slightly from a single end of year deposit assumption. For rough decades long planning, the annual model is still useful. For precise month by month cash planning, note the difference and keep expectations modest.
Raise contributions after pay increases by editing pmt and rerunning. Small lasting increases matter more than one year of catching up and then stopping.
Fees and net return
A 7 percent gross market assumption with 1 percent annual fees is not the same as a 7 percent net experience. If fees are meaningful in your account, enter a lower rate so the projection stays closer to spendable reality.
